“Nia means Purpose in Swahili. Staying true to my namesake I always seek deep meaning and connection through art, design, and my local community.”
Nia Perry is a Jacksonville based designer by profession, and a visual artist by passion. She received her B.A. at the University of Rochester with a double major in Digital Media Studies (HCI) and Psychology. As the distinguished student speaker of the Digital Media Studies commencement ceremony, she discussed how individuals can use design thinking to create their lives.
Nia has a passion for working on projects that inspire creative problem solving and design thinking. She leverages her background in human motivation, and interpersonal relationships to design interfaces, and graphics that inspire people to pursue their optimal lifestyles and wellbeing.
In 2019, she founded Designblk, a platform to highlight and empower black designers in the creative tech industry.
She also single-handedly runs an art and design studio, Armenta studio named after her grandmother.
